Why does the media over-sensationalize pit bull attacks?
News outlets will call a dog attack a "pit bull attack" even if the dog has pit-bull like characteristics and isn't actually an American Pit Bull.
Why does the media do this?
What are some good arguments against BSL?

Unfortunately American Pit Bull Terriers get peoples attention. So the news knows if they say it people will read it. People want to hear Pit Bull. There are many people that cannot even pick a APBT Out. Can you?

Do you think anyone wants to hear or see " Family Mutt Attacks Baby!" Or "Golden Retriever Turns On Owner"
The truth is more children are killed by their own parents then by Pit Bulls each year.

The media doesn't pay attention to dogs, they couldn't care less about them. They say "pit bull attacks" about every dog attack so they get everyones attention. If they knew what they were talking about, they would know that any dog can attack and be a mean dog. Pit bulls are known as mean dogs because alot of people use them to protect and fight. The media uses that to get everyone to pay attention to them.

There were so many pit bull attacks in the past and pit bulls have very large teeth that do alot of damage. So when there is a dog attack with alot of damage they call it a pit bull attack. I don't think that pit bulls are bad dogs and that everyone is over reacting. If trained right a pit bull could be your best friend.

I think that explains the news media well, and there's a catchy tune to boot.
I'd actually like to hear good arguments for BSL. All I've heard so far from supporters is plain ignorance of the real world, or emotional bull crap that also ignores what is going on in the real world.
More than a few quote people whose professions have nothing to do with dogs, they ignore scientific research and presue outdated statistics that the creators themselves admit aren't correct, it goes on and on and on.

the media DO over-sensationalize them. they also sensationalize snow flurries, rain, sunny weather, expected rush-hour traffic, and whether some poor soul has a flat tire on main street. they're in the business of scaring people; not informing them.
"pit bull attacks" come under the "if-it-bleeds-it-leads" category. if it were a golden retriever or a poodle that had bitten someone, i'd wager the story would be "dog bites man," with no mention of the breed mentioned until well into the story.
PBs and PB mixes have a REALLY bad rap--mostly because of people who misuse/abuse them via dog-fighting or improper training. we have two pit bull mixes--one still a puppy. intelligent, loving, and quick to catch on to what's expected of them.
(BTW: i NEVER look at local news. it's vapid, and a great lot of blather about nothing.)

I believe the situation that can't be disputed isn't which puppy bites however which puppy can kill whilst it does. Due to the pit and the rotti having lock jaws, that is in which the situation lie's. It isn't to provide the puppy a foul rap or the persons careing for it. regardless that that may occur. It is a bodily situation with the puppy itself. I do not believe I might fear approximately a chow hanging a gigantic gap in my throat. I believe the important thing phrase pay attention is existence threatening. And that's simply what you must take delivery of.

They do it because pit bulls don't have to be 'pedigreed' to be referred to as a pit bull.
Check out the statistics online. It's enlightening. Just Google it.

The media "over-sensationalizes" EVERYTHING
Have you not watched fox news? Anyone with a brain knows that 90% of the crap on there is biased garbage.
The media knows that if it instills fear, than it has control
