my first thout is if you have a facebook page, ask the question on there and direct it to any scotish person or maybe just someone who has been there... or go to wikipedia and type in the bug and it will give you info on that bug and how to care for it....or in search, type in scotish berry bug and see what info you get... has to be some info out there.... doctors may not be familiar with the bug so info on it first maybe helpful.... will see what I can find.... good luck I just typed in beetles in scotland and got a wealth of sites go to the one SCRI.com, it is a doctor who works with the beetes in scotland, you can search his page or ask him a question.. think its your best bet...evidently there is quite a problem with them there....let me know what you find out.....

Urinate on it and then put lemon juice. Works every time.
