Earl is predicted to stay in the Atlantic and the outter edges skim the eastern coastal areas. More info can be found here http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/graphics_at2.shtml?5-daynl...

I'm not very educated on hurricanes and how the travel but I read earlier that it is likely going to slam New England and Eastern Canada which confuses me because the Turks and Caicos Islands are south of Miami. I know it's on the same side of the map but I didn't think hurricanes traveled that far up and I never thought that hurricanes made their way up north? Then again, I'm not a meteorologist.

So I've been looking on the NHC website to see their radar of Earl and Fiona (she's following pretty close behind Earl) and I just wonder if the East coast will get slammed twice with hurricanes?

I just hope Texas gets some hurricane aftermath rain because it is drier than it should be here.

Hurricane Earl is currently a Category 4 hurricane, which means it is packing winds of 131-155 mi/hr. at the moment North Carolina is on hurricane watch but the NHC (national hurricane center) are saying that no direct land impact is expected BUT if it moves west then it will bring it into direct impact with the eastern seaboard, if this happens then the NHC says it will cause "catastrophic" damage to the east coast, Katrina was a category 3 storm when it hit New Orleans, Earl may hit at Category 4 so would be much worse then Katrina.

I have read numerous articles that if the worse happens and moves into line with the US for a direct impact then cape cod WILL be hit on Friday or Saturday, please do not panic at that statement, it is IF it moves west. Please be aware that if, for your own safety you feel the need to evacuate please do so calmly.

If it hits or comes close to the east coast then i would advise to keep away from the coast, i would highly recommend you to listen for announcements and, just as precaution move to higher ground if it is said that it will hit or come dangerously close, if you are told to evacuate then please do so, don't make the mistake some of the Katrina survivors did and stay, leave.

FEMA administrator Craig Fugate said state and local authorities may need to order further evacuations later this week.He said: 'Today is the day to make sure you have your plan completed and your supplies in place.', In other words you have to have a plan in place because if it hits it may be too late to evacuate everyone.

    Good luck and God bless

All anyone can really tell you is percentages which will vary from day to day. I don't want to scare you OR give false hope. What bothers me is they said it would go North already, and it's stayed going West longer than they said.

I don't see anything that big happening, but when Katrina hit NO, some of my family were partying because they were told it would just be a bad coast storm after it hit. Kind of an understatement. Just be aware and prepared, without panicking. Stay informed of the changes and updates.

I agree with the person ahead of me, I live in CT. I dont think we will be dodging this one, it doesnt look good and I will bet warnings will start to go up tomorrow at some time...this hurricane is intense and even when it gets up here will still be a Cat 1 or 2, can do alot of damage hopefully not a Cat 3...
