Why It takes a long time for my USB's to put my WD external drive online?
I have a real problem. My eMachine T5212 has every up to date drive I can think of installed yet the USB ports are slow at bringing the external hard drives online. It takes about a minute and a half as opposed to almost immediately which my other computers have always done. It doesn't seem to be the drivers for any of the internal or external usb card that I'm using (vt6212l). It's as if something else is wrong on the motherboard perhaps. I'll take any opinions here. I'm at the point where I want to sell the machine. Thanks.

eMachines are not the fastest kid on the block..they "entry level" yours is an older one so naturally its going to be a bit slower that today's machines. The more things you have plugged into USB ports the longer it takes the controller to recognize it and set up to use it. its never "instantaneous". but taking a minute and a half to load up?..that's too slow! are you sure you have the right USB drivers for that particular model? If it was faster before you updated chances are you have the wrong drivers installed.
