Can I use XP Pro x86 with eMachine model T5212?

I'm having a hard time with the built-in USB ports and even a card I bought with 4 extra usb ports. The driver for the card isn't working and I can't find an x86 version of the drivers for the built-in ports. When I plug my external WD drive into the built-in ports it recognizes but goes offline after a few seconds. And with the card it takes longer time to recognize and transfers files to and from internal drives way too slow. I'm at wits end. Please if you can help?

Update:

Also I should mention, I did have an x32 version installed first and had the exact same problem. That's why I downgraded to x86. I even tried the x32 usb drivers from the emachines website and had no luck. Thanks.

Laptops of today have tie-ups with the software companies, wherein, some laptops are pre-installed with license operating. If your license is Vista or Windows 7, you will really find it hard to find drivers for your devices in XP. Unless, you are provided with the Drivers for any OS version in a form of a CD.

If not, Searcg harder in Google and Yahoo
