French Passe compose avec avoir?

I'm supposed to write some given sentences in passe compose using avoir. What does this mean? Help. How would I do it if one of the sentences is, Il passe une semaine a la plage?

Il A passé une semaine à la plage.

You conjugate avoir in present + past participle of the main verb (passer) PASSÉ. You have to memorize the past participle.

The passé composé is a compound conjugation, which means it has two parts:

    1. present tense of the auxiliary verb (either avoir or être)

    2. past participle of the main verb

Note: Like all compound conjugations, the passé composé may be subject to grammatical agreement:

    * When the auxiliary verb is être, the past participle must agree with the subject

    * When the auxiliary verb is avoir, the past participle may have to agree with its direct object

    AIMER (auxiliary verb is avoir)

j' ai aimé nous avons aimé

tu as aimé vous avez aimé

You use être with this verbs:

    aller to go

    arriver to arrive

descendre to descend / go downstairs

    (redescendre to descend again)

    entrer to enter

    (rentrer to re-enter)

    monter to climb

    (remonter to climb again)

    mourir to die

    naître to be born

(renaître to be reborn, born again)

    partir to leave

    (repartir to leave again)

    passer to pass

    rester to stay

    retourner to return

    sortir to go out

    (ressortir to go out again)

    tomber to fall

    (retomber to fall again)

    venir to come

    (devenir to become

    parvenir to reach, achieve

revenir to come again, come back)

You also use it with pronominal verbs (se laver or se baigner)

You use avoir with all other verbs
