When will theists stop saying that...?

Argument from authority is a fallacy. It is not. It is induction. Argument from unqualified authority is a fallacy.

I would also like to point out that Stephen Hawking is a very good authority, and that if you prescribe to an organized religion, you're essentially using argument from authority.

    I agree. If you argue from a religious perspective, it is an argument from authority. And that's not a logical fallacy, as you've just pointed out.

    There are many very intelligent Christians too you realize, the magnitude of somebody iq is irrelevant as far as proving which faith is truth goes.
