Spiritually Speaking: Why are some people "block user" happy?

Because they don't have the intellectual or moral capacity to tolerate a different opinion.

You mean like the well known user that asks atheists questions and then blocks them all?

I never used to block anyone and I have been here for years, now there are a couple of people that I know are out only to wreak havoc and I have blocked them.

It`s a shame really, it rather goes against my ideals of freedom of speech.

I'm 'block user happy'. I've been using this site for a couple of years now and haven't lost my account (yet),I put it down to blocking anyone/everyone I have ever seen stating they will report another, soon mounts up. I'm not afraid of debate, I relish those times I encounter someone of differing opinions, who is articulate and doesn't have to resort to insults, wild speculation or lies.

It's really not a matter of being happy about it for me. I pick up stalkers that follow me around and TD and report every Q & A I post that even looks a tiny bit like it might be a violation.

I get a good bit of hate mail too, and I'm not interested in reading the kind of vitriol that gets spewed at me.

So, I block, I block those that send me hate mail, I block those that brag about reporting and I block anyone in my fans list that I don't recognize.

Don't send my hate mail, don't sneak in to my fans list in order to report me and don't brag about being a report monkey and you won't get blocked.

For me, it has nothing to do with

combie the first 2 answers you got then add: they don't have any other recourse. they get proven infallibly wrong then they block you. then they send you a "you are stupid" hate mail and block al emails too. i gues this makes them right asll the time.

i usually block someone if they say something stupid so i know that person is stupid. and you can block phone calls from people so that was an appropriate suggestion
