Does the name Ariel make you think of the little mermaid?
I love the name Ariel. Not because of the movie, because I think the name is really pretty.
I'd love to use it for my daughter but I don't want to tell people my daughter's name and they be like "you named her after the little mermaid?!" lol.
When you hear the name Ariel do you automatically think the little mermaid? Is this name usable?
Thank you :)
P.S: Sorry, gone a bit mad with questions tonight :P

Yes, The Little Mermaid is the first thing that pops into mind, however, I've seen it on a few real live people and can also associate it as a nice name on its own. I think that if you decide to use it, people will definitely be reminded of the Disney movie when they hear it but then they'll get used to it and come to appreciate it. It's pretty.
Edit: I just thought I'd mention that people should only avoid using famous names when they have really negative connotations, like Rasputen or Adolf or Paris (lol). Ariel is associated with a beautiful mermaid princess so I say it's free and clear.

Yes, I was considering that name if I had a girl, but I kept thinking of the Little Mermaid. It's a pretty name though. Lots of people are naming their daughters "Bella" right now, even though it makes everyone think of Twilight. So go ahead and name her Ariel if you like it.

Yes, the name is usable. And when you hear the word "Ariel" yes it does remind people of the little mermaid, because you know, the daughter is the mermaid :/ But iit kind of reminded me because you mentioned "mermaid".
But I agree, it's a nice name. If you want to name your child this then name it "ariel" o.o Maybe, when they hear the name "Ariel" they think of a brave and courageous girl who does anything for her dreams. :)

The name Ariel makes me think of the little mermaid, but it's a nice name. If you want to use that name go ahead. It's your daughter's name, if you like it go for it.

Arista, it's not as flimsy as Adella or Alana yet not clumsy like Aquata. Although my fave would be Athena, Ariel's mother. Also the Greek goddess of warfare and wisdom. I like Eric, it's a good old solid male name, Sebastian is a bit pompous and Max is so... short. @ Dub Del Mar: Isn't Eric from True Blood? Or am I just confused? Great answers, though. ;)

It does make me think of The Little Mermaid a little, but I think the name is still usable. I personally prefer Ariella (ar-ee-ELL-uh), though. Then she could go by Ari or Ella. But I think Ariel is fine too.

Yes, then Shakespeare (character from the tempest...waaaaay before the little mermaid and its a lot classier to say the name relates to shakespeares work ) then soap powder.
Its lovely though, its definatley usable

Yes, my first thought it the disney character. It's usable but I personally wouldn't because of the little mermaid

Yes it does, however that doesnt mean that I assume that's where the parents got the name. I just know that (as I said on the other question), my friend with that name gets those references ALL the time. She hated that name at least up until the middle of high school.

I really do yes, and washing up liquid, but it is a pretty name so if you like it use it
Maybe spell it Arielle which is the feminine version
but do not use Ariel and Melody as mentioned in your previous question.
