Being an illegal alien is not cause for deportation?

On Aug. 20, Immigrant and Customs Enforcement Assistant Secretary John Morton wrote a memo to the agency's head of removal operations, telling him that being in the U.S. illegally is no longer grounds for deportation. Only illegals who pose a security threat or have violent records need now be deported.

Does this make sense?

This proves that we have morons in Washington. This person should READ the immigration law(s) of this nation and then read the illegal immigration law(s) of other nations and research how other country's handle illegals. They all deport (or worse) any illegal immigrant. This "assistant" should be fired immediately since he obviously cannot read, his opinion means nothing, the written law(s) say it all!

no if you entered this country ILLEGALLY and committed a crime

    you should be deported..

and this is from a republican who's best friend in the world is a LEGAL immigrant from mexico..

All he's doing is massaging the minority vote. What he's saying is that now that he is in a position of power he is going to focus on people that commit crimes in general, instead of focusing on people whose being here is considered a crime. Need I remind all previous posters that they were all immigrants at some point. The Native Americans could have easily killed the pilgrims when they saw them, but they didn't. Your responses have no kindness and no sympathy towards others and totally go against why the USA was founded in the first place. When all previous posters go try living in Mexico for awhile then they will have the opportunity to speak on such matters. Because by living in Mexico, you are literally escaping death every day. Try living that experience.

What dope are these people smoking? If you're here illegally, you don't belong here. Therefore, you gotta go and get the heck out!
