Accept them for the person they've decided to become. If they made a confident and educated choice, you should support them.

I'd be logical and try to find out the cause for this

like, there obv must be a reason.. maybe the kid's been brainwashed by some typical Islamophobia bullsh*t, or perhaps they're simply not convinced by a certain religious aspect for any reason, or prolly just slipping into the stupid trend of being apathetic towards religion.. there's gotta be a reason for sure and i'd try to find to find out what that is, the kid has to open up to me cause having an atheist child is NOT cool to me at all.. pretty much unacceptable. so I'd try to help him/her out to the best of my capability and law bardou mafeesh faydah then I'll just pray that rabena yehdeeh, try to fix the damage and fill in the empty gap that's causing that to happen so that he/she'll bring religion back into their lives again.

besides if my kid ever came up to me and told me that they're an atheist I'd know that I've officially have failed as a mother foreaaal so hopefully that never happens.

from my view point I am a son, My dad doesn't care he accept me who I am and for what I do. and I am not that religious. I mean I do have a religion but I don't go to church, I don't pray I just leave it alone. I don't talk about it I don't bring it up in a conversation.

I think it you responsibility as a parent to discuss it with him, with LOVE and REASON. and keep an open mind about it, because it's his/her personnel life. but don't hate him or cut him out of your life. God loves us as we are, aren't we going to love our kids, how ever they are!!
