My brand new computer is running really slow...and I don't have virus issues.?

My computer is brand new and it is running extremely slow...?

I just got a brand new 1800 dollar computer and it's about a month old. Every now and then it runs so slow that it takes 40 minutes just for log in screen to load for me to put my password in. The first two times I just did a system restore and it worked fine.

However, every time I go away from the computer and then come back it's running so slow it wont even shut down. I have to manually turn the power off. I have run just about ever single free (and secure) virus, spyware and malware program you can think of and nothing has been found.

Then when I tried to do the third system restore it told me that it couldn't restore from any of the 5 points I tried because the files in that point were "corrupted". Also, aside from running slow games crash after I have played them for about 3 minutes. Not the computer just the game application itself. It takes about 20 minutes to close it though of course because of the slow computer speed.

Basically, I wanted someone who knows a lot about computer to help me figure out what the issue is. So far the information I have gathered on the internet tells me that it may be a faulty HDD, but... it just seems like more of a processor issue. Maybe video card?

MY PC:

Windows 7 64 Bit

i7 930 2.80GHz

HARD DRIVE:

1 TB

File System: NTFS

Model: WDC WD1001FAES-75W7A0

VIDEO CARD:

ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series

I have this thing on my computer that sometimes is not turned on called, Intel Rapid Storage Technology. Could that not turning on automatically be the issue?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to hear about your problem. If you don’t want to buy a new system, there are quite a few tweaks you can do on your own:

    Remove unneeded startup programs

Run a disk cleanup and defragger

    Clean up the Windows registry

You can also download software that can do all three of these things automatically. I recommend tying it out and scanning your system for free at:

Im guessing you have more than enough ram, id be shocked with an i7 if you had less than 3GB (if you do you were dumb, lol)

Might be the hard drive, definately backup anything important that you have put on there. Is this a computer from a major manufacturer or a local tech or did you build this? Something to try would be resetting the bios and/or updating it. Might be bad ram as well, get a memory test program or use the one on the windows install disk if you have a normal retail type rather than a manufacturer recovery one (select "repair my computer" at the first option when the disk loads and there is a memory test tool there), and test the ram, if it fails start doing it with 1 stick of ram at a time to see which stick is bad.

Another thing i would do before spending any money would be to start over with windows, format and reinstall, just to see what happens.

On the off chance that this is an HP computer, there is a hard drive test in the bios and computer hardware testing software pre-loaded in windows.

I would try to borrow somebodies harddrive and swap it out for your own, to see if that solves the problem because it kind of does sound like it could be the hard drive. Your processor is pretty dang good, so I doubt that would be the problem. Also, exactly how many antivirus programs to you have installed. It is NEVER a good idea to have more than one installed at the same time. They do all kinds of crazy things to each other and to your computer. They especially eat up a lot of system resources. You should have 1 antivirus program and 1 anti maleware/spyware program, or one big combination program, but no more than that. Good luck.

Do you visit the internet alot. Or like, do you have cable? When mine was acting up, I bought a Double spyware and only when I run the Full scan, it tales out all of the BS that the internet has put in. Your right, your computer shouldn't be running that way at all.

It really depends on further details, you know, I got a 1gb graphic card that /supposedly/ should run gta4 without any problem, but the gpu didn't actually support any /good/ resolution, it wasn't even "playable". You must run it with DDR3 over 1333mhz system and even a better processor to make it work properly. >Also, my graphic card has a clock speed of 910mhz, that one has only 650mhz, you CAN actually make it run, but only working at 1024x768 as max resolution.

You can use a good PC optimizer and system cleaner such as Reginout to speed up your computer. Adding more RAM to your system and removing unnecessary programs will also help you. Then close your door and windows as your system will be fast like a rocket.

You need to check if u have a graphic card. A graphic card is needed because the game is very graphic intensive with a lot of effects that will cause the game to stutter if u dont have one. Still, run the game, and go to graphic setting and reduce render effect to LOW, and keep shadow details, traffic density etc below half level and try running the game. Best of luck

    There are many reasons.

    lack of ram

    overheating

    virus infercted

    bad hard drive

the most possible reason is a corrupt registry.
