Is it too late for butternut squash to set on in Colorado?

The vine is healthy and has mature squash on it. Should I let it dry up or should I continue watering in hope of getting mroe squash? The date is September 4.

Keep watering it until you've picked all the squash. Then let it dry up or let the frost get it. If there are flowers on it now they would need weeks to mature into squash and my guess is you don't have that many weeks left.

Agreed, keep watering until you pick all the mature ones, then let it go. Gardening is Colorado is tricky, as starting now ( Sept 4) we could get snow at any time. Enjoy your bounty, and maybe try and plant a little earlier next year, if possible.
