In D&D 3.5 Do monks take a Two handed penalty?

With Monks using both fists or quarterstaff, club, crossbow (light or heavy), dagger, handaxe, javelin, kama, nunchaku etc. If I decide to use say 2 Nunchaku will I suffer the dual weapon penalty? Should I take the dual weapon specialization feat/Improved? Also I was wondering what a solid starter monks stats would look like. My stat rolls were pretty awful and I'm going to be allowed to re-roll them due to my lack of effectiveness in my last campaign

Yes, the normal two handed rules apply, so you would need to take the two weapon fighting feats to reduce that penalty. But as a monk, you would probably just work with your flurry of blows class feat, and not spend too many feats on two weapon fighting, if any. You're already getting an extra attack with a low penalty that eventually disappears, and another extra later on.

You want a high wisdom, dex, and strength, and a good con if you can get it. Int and char are your dump stats.

Hello, Monks are required to take dual weapon spec. if the monk want to be more effective with dual weapons. So your answer is yes, as like other species, when dual wielding you will get handicaps to your attack roll.
