New Pic3 Carb on my 74 Superbeetle running rough?

At low RPMs when I depress the throttle it stutters and almost dies before gradually going faster. happens in 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Not 1st. Are the jets adjustable or do I have to change them out? Didint do this w old pic 3, but that one had other probs. How do I figure out which jets and to change by how much? Thanks alot!

Update:

34 pic 3 sorry. i think i fixed it by turning the lowest jet on the left all the way off, then cc 1 1/2 revolutions. The larger jet on the same side I turned until the engine RPMs sounded good. The big jet on the right side I turned until the engine idled smooth also. Now it responds when I depress the throttle.

The only other thing I noticed is that the oil light came on after about 20 miles on the freeway when I put it in neutral. Oil was a little low, do yo think RPMs are just too low?

Update 2:

Gosh, how can I tell which distributopr I have? All I can say is this one seems old.

what do you mean by pict 3? 30pict3 34pict3?

also what distributor are you running? if youre running an 009 i would change it back out for the vacuum advance dizzy. 009's are known for doing this if its a street driven car. also check your timing

ok, by jet on the left side i assume you mean the 2 screws that are there. the large one is for the idle speed (volume control) and smaller screw is the air bypass (air/fuel mixture)

it sounds like you adjusted the idle speed properly. just pull your plugs after a few good length trips to check for signs of running too rich/lean.

as for the oil light coming on....does it glow brightly (like when you turn the ignition on) or just faintly.you might be running too thin of an oil. as the oil heats up it will thin a little bit and you will lose a little bit of oil pressure. if it glows faintly i would just run a thicker oil to see if that helps

howdy Roger, i've got run in the time of a few thing comparable in the previous on the jetty the place i grew to become right into a tech for some years. do away with your prop and examine for melted fishing line around the shaft. If there's a extensive plastic washer that sounds like it is going to not be there, it is going to not! What you particularly have there's a rat's-nest of fishing line that some bonehead by using over-board, and its melted around your shaft from the frictional warmth. the reason it in basic terms rears it fairly is head in opposite is that as quickly because it binds, it bunches, inflicting a terrific load on your motor andcontinual-line. in case you detect it fairly is the case, verify which you do examine YOUR decrease UNIT OIL appropriate away! the possibilities that it has decrease your prop shaft seal to smithereens is greater advantageous than in all probability. Water in the decrease unit oil will seem milky white in colour, and is information helpful of a seal long gone undesirable. Leaving this in the decrease unit over wintry climate will reason it to freeze-up and destroy your decrease unit housing and seals. examine those issues out in the previous putting your boat to mattress for the wintry climate, and he or she'll be your fishin' chum for some destiny years. -Jim-

First. Are your valve adjusted to .004

Second. The condition of your spark plugs, points.

Third. after all this is checked you probably won't have a problem.

last but not least, get rid of that single card, duels always run better.
