Why do some people on Y answers think that insects are not animals?
Did you people pay attention in Biology class? If you search the internet, you will see that insects are in fact animals.
For those who thinks insects are not animals, then what makes an animal an animal?
BrittBRa cause their not. And which category would you define insect? After all their not plants nor fungi. Both plants and fungi have cell walls and insects don't. Plants make their own food and insects cannot. And they are neither bacteria nor protist is because insects are multi-cellular. So that leaves animals. Need to do some more research pal.

It's called ignorance my friend. It's just a plain lack of education, knowledge, and a general absence of curiosity when it comes to the wonders of nature and the wildlife on this beautiful planet of ours.

Because of lame public school that says they are not.
Actually, it is not just public school. Biology is not taught well in this country (USA) because the lessons lead to a discussion of evolution, which is in conflict with the Christian Bible. Ask people on here where whales descended from, or how old Earth is, it would be very revealing.

People here are ignorant & stupid *&* too lazy to do their own homework.
People here can't tell a rock from an apple from an elephant.

Some people who don't have any science background think of "animal" as a synonym for "mammal". They don't consider birds or fish as animals either.

Haven't come across anybody so far, who believes that they are not animals. In your case, that could mean that these are exceptional cases who believe that they are not animals. Biology class or otherwise, even an illiterate should/does know that they are animals.
