I used to raise tadpoles and I fed them cooked cabbage. To make this, you need some cabbage, boiled water, a plastic baggie, something to stir with, and something to scoop the cabbage in. First, put the cabbage in the boiled water. Keep stirring for 15 minutes. Then, scoop the cabbage into the plastic baggie. Try not to get a lot of the boiled water into the plastic baggie.keep the baggie open while storing in the refrigerator to cool down. After about 5 to 10 minutes, your tadpoles will eat their meals happily.
For each tadpole, feed 1 small pinch. So say you have 3 tadpoles, you would feed them 3 small pinches.I recommend feeding them every morning, like regular fish. If you over feed them, your tank will get dirty fast. If you feed them too less, they will starve.
Be careful how many tadpoles you take home- because by the time they become young adult frogs, where they can jump and climb the walls, you will have a hard time maintaining them. Don't make the same mistake I did, I brought home 13 tadpoles, and when they grew up,, my tank was already too small, so I had to release them where I caught them.
When you clean the tank, don't use any soap. The reason why is because you might not wash all of the soap off. Yo wanna know what happens too our little friends? They die. For the water, you can either leave it out so the clorine will evaporate, or use some water declorinator. When you want to leave out the water, leave it for about 7 days just to make sure ALL the chemicals and clorine and stuff evaporate. Do the water change about once every 2 weeks. If you do it often, our little friends will get stressed and die. I hoped this helped:)

Tadpoles mostly eat detritus (dead/decaying material from all sorts of organic material) and periphyton (algae/detritus/bacterial mixture found attached to many submerged materials in ponds/lakes).
However, I worked in an aquatic toxicology lab over the summer and the best way to feed tadpoles is to buy tetramin (your common fruity-pebble-esque fish food) and grind it up a bit before sprinkling it on the surface of the water. It provides all the direct nutrients tadpoles and other aquatic animals need (they will be quite happy).
The only thing to be mindful of is to make sure some of the tetramin sinks. An easy way to do this is to take a pencil or pen and swirl the surface of the water (to break the surface tension) about ten minutes after applying the ground tetramin. If you don't do this, the food will stay on the surface. The tadpoles will still eat it, but they will also consume air from above the surface and get air bubbles in their GI tract, which makes them bloated and unable to do anything other than swim around near the surface.

I would guess so. I have no idea what they eat, BUT I can guess.
What lives around them? Algae, but what else? If you look close enough you just might find it.
