How to interpret this statistical T Test?

I'm taking a graduate level statistics class and I've having a hard time figuring out if there is a significant difference, using this t test. My null hypothesis was that there was no significant difference between the variables. My t stat was -3.52 and my critical value is 2. (All this figured in excel) Does this mean, since my t state was less than my critical value, that there was no significant difference? I'm confused. HELP!

    Is this a two-tailed test?

A two-tailed test looks as follows:

    H0: No significant difference

    H1: There is significant difference.

If it is a two-tailed test, you compare the absolute values (computed and critical) 3.52 and 2.

If the computed value exceeds the critical value, you reject the null hypothesis in favor of the alternative and conclude there is a difference. Otherwise, you do not reject the null hypothesis and conclude there is no significant difference.

If it were a one-tailed test, your critical value would be -2 (same sign as t stat). You then compare the absolute values just like you did with a two-tailed test.

    Example of a one-tailed test:

H0: No difference between the two group means

    H1: group 1 mean < group 2 mean

    or

H0: No difference between the two group means

    H1: group 1 mean > group 2 mean

For a one-tailed t test, the test stat and the critical value have the same sign.

(you would be comparing 3.52 and 2)

in case you inspect the definition of a null speculation, it does no longer advise the authentic opposite of the unique speculation. to illustrate, if the unique speculation is the relationship would be sturdy, so like 0.5 and up. The null speculation would not unavoidably might desire to be while the relationship is 0, it could additionally state that the relationship is vulnerable or maybe average. The null speculation in basic terms proves the time-honored speculation incorrect, it would not unavoidably advise that it incredibly is thoroughly opposite to it. desire that enables
