Why don't the Democrats and Republicans just take turns being in Power?
Each Party could take turns being in Charge of America. Every four years, they just change shifts.
It would eliminate all the Nasty Propaganda and I firmly believe both Parties would work together. Four years on and four years off. Each Party could decide who would be in charge and America could go from there. It would eliminate so much drama and Propaganda.

What about third parties or Independents?
See, the founding fathers never envisioned political parties. There's nothing in the constitution about political parties, and George Washington was firmly against them.
Political parties came into being because it's the logical end of the Single Member District Plurality voting system that we use in the United States.
If your end goal is to reduce the political polarization caused by a two-party system, there are more effective and constructive ways to achieve that end, such as shortening the campaign season and switching to a proportional awarding of legislative seats.

That would eliminate the need for elections, which would drastically change the type of government our country had. Personally I'd rather see neither major party win and get some new blood into politics, with the intention of righting a seriously tilting ship. Fully agree there is so much drama and propaganda, and way too much focus on self instead of country. It is not a surprise we're wobbly.

Essentially, they do. The people vote, favor one party, then once that party is in power, the public usually shifts its favor to the other party. We have constant power shifts.

They hate each other too much to do that ... It would also take away our freedom to choose.
