Yes try using bowls of vinegar in the room with the smell it does work place a bowl in a warm corner of the room and see for yourself.

The faster it dries, the faster the fumes will go away. Get some fans going or turn on the air conditioning. Water absorbs odors as well. Fill some buckets with water and leave them around the room.

Try chopping an onion up and leave overnight in the room, works every time for me,

Try leaving a peeled onion placed on a saucer over night. or a lemon cut in half.
