Please help me, I need an advice on my application essay.....?
So, the topic is "How has the world you come from shaped your dreams and aspirations?" (yes, it's the MIT essay). I am not american, I come from another small country. However, no matter how hard I try, I can't seem to recall any sort of stimulus from my country and even family. Basically, the world I come from is very homogeneous and the people are sybaritic. If you do not fit the stereotype ..... you're on your own. Do you think that I should elaborate on the "against the current" dreams? I am afraid it may sound like I am dishing on my own country and also because it is not a straightforward answer to the question..........
how can i apply here the adage "show don't tell"

You have the start of your essay in your question. You come from a small county that is homogeneous with people who are sybaritic. How has this affected you? Did it push you to excel. Did you become you, because your environment did not allow you to grow intellectually. Did you feel a need to be different? Did you dislike the homogeneousness which caused you to look for new horizons or did the the homogeneousness give you a safety base that allowed you to soar? You can make either into positive. Don't pass judgments on your home country in your essay but explain how your home country shaped your personality. Remember, one reason for application essays is to see how the student can reason and express themselves in writing. If you make a compelling argument that is well reasoned and well written, it probably does not matter what the argument was.
