Trend Micro
Avast
Avg
Norton
Microsoft security essentials
I would go with trend micro or microsoft because they are pretty light weight on your system
But if you are really concerned about security then go for norton or avg
Source(s): @poohbear trendmicro and norton both have antivirus programs alone.. and anti-virus do remove all those things - Ed GLv 71 decade ago
When I answer a question about what is a good antivirus program I don't put what I feel or think. I spend time at security sites and review the tests from the big testing labs and a couple of the PC sites that do reviews with tests. If you want paid the best bet is to get a Internet security Suite. Norton, Kaspersky,or Bitdefender are all very good. If you just want anti-virus protection. Then the list get's long. Avira paid, Bitdefender, G Data, Norton, Kaspersky. These are the top ones in detection. In the case of Norton, Bitdefender, and Kaspersky will do a good job of blocking malware from ever getting on your computer with the web protection they offer.
If you want free, top one is Avira, then Avast. Microsoft is next.
Anti-virus software you should not get AVG free. Trend mirco any version. Trend did really bad in the test at av comparatives. It was also one of the few that did not get certified at AV test org.

I have had a ton of different antivirus wear. including
mcafee
web root
spy sweeper
Norton
However they all swept my computer and found viruses and cleaned them off sounds great right?
nope I then ran SPY HUNTER and it would find a ton more on my computer. So if i were to recommend any anti virus it would be Spy Hunter. Also you can put this on a lot of machines as opposed to one or two with Mcafee, and you also do not get the pop up crap of your purchase has expired. Which in my mind is just as bad as a virus.
SPY HUNTER for the win
hope this helps

AVG. - Free for home users.
Avast. - Free for home users (I use this one.)
NOT McAfee.
NOT Norton.
NOT Trend Micro.
Source(s): @previous posters: uh, guys? learn the difference between anti-virus, and anti-malware. AV programs won't do anything about malware or trojans.
