Can you help me with my sewing machine needle?

My sewing machine is a Euro Pro 372H, if that helps.

Okay, so here's the deal. The needle of the machine, when put into the bobbin area, goes sideways instead of into the casing hole it's meant to go in.

Here is a picture.

Does anyone know what is wrong, and how a I might fix it?

Update:

Apparently that link was bad.

Here it is again.

Update 2:

Yes, there was some very odd string jam, in which a whole rat's nest of thread was pulled and tangled in the bobbin area. And there was a needle break. Doubley bad operating skills.

I'll try it with a new needle, and if that doesn't work I'll have to have the timing reset... Thanks!

Looks like the machine is badly out of time, if I'm interpreting your photo correctly.

    Take a look at http://www.sewusa.com/Sewing_Machine_Repair/Repair...

and make sure you've got the right needle system (HAx1, 15x1H or 130/705H should be on the needle package) and the needle is completely up in the needle clamp. This needle appears damaged, so test with a known good needle.

Timing is typically not a DIY sport, unless you've got someone willing to walk you through it, so it looks like it may be due for a trip to the shop.

Did you have a bad thread jam or broken needle recently?
