If someone answers the question, "Do you believe in God?" with "No," are they therefore an atheist?

    Very likely.

    But they must also not believe in the reality of any form of hypothetical deity that is not named God.

    No. You have that silly capital G in there that most people assume means the abrahamic god, someone may say no to that yet still believe in some other god or goddess rendering them incapable of being an atheist.

    Not from my pov.

    Because if they're talking about Pat Robertson's little sock-pupppet god, then I agree. That god doesn't exist except in conservative political agenda.

    But if that answerer understands that God is pure, eternal love, which I doubt any of us truly, fully understands, and still says "No," then yes. He is an atheist.

    Yes. If you don't believe in God/god/goddess/higher power you are an atheist.
