Does someone have a good recipe for fondant that they could give?
I have never made fondant, but I understand it can be made fairly easily, but I need a recipe. If you could suggest the best type of color agent to use (liquid, powder, paste); where hard to find ingredients can be purchased (Lower Mainland Area - Vancouver, B.C. Canada), and also suggest brand names where needed. Thanks very much.

I also recommend Marshmallow Fondant, which the previous person shared a recipe for. The recipe I've used is in Sources, and very similar to the other answerer's, but it allows for a little more water if necessary due to climate differences. It also has some nice photos showing the various stages of making it, and what the finished product should look like.
You definitely want either a paste/gel or powder coloring, or a very concentrated liquid coloring. I've used Wilton Icing Color (gel/paste consistency) and AmeriColor (liquid, but very concentrated), but dry powders are also used. Grocery store food colorings are not intense enough, and if you want a deep or bright color, you may have to use so much coloring it will change the consistency of your fondant.
Another way to color white fondant is to blend purchased colored fondant and blend it white the white. This will result in a color that is truer and is more fade resistant. For example, if you want pink, you can buy Wilton fondant in a primary color pack (yellow, red, green, blue) and mix some or all of the small pack of red fondant in with your homemade Marshmallow Fondant to color it pink.
Note: I recommend using the Marshmallow Fondant for covering cakes and for doing simple cut outs only; it can be too soft and/or the texture can be inconsistent for making other things (flowers, modeling shapes and figures, etc.)

It definitely can be made easily! I used to make cakes professionally and I always used this recipe, it's easy to work with and it actually tastes good. I sometimes adjust the amount of powdered sugar just to my taste, also it's messy so I usually use a kitchenaid. If you don't have one, I did use my hands for a long time. Here's the link!

oh- I use wilton gel icing coloring, but I've used regular food coloring before and they both work very well.
