My french teacher thinks I'm a retard...help!?

French is one of my best subjects and I was really looking forward to it this year but I said something REALLY stupid and now I think my french teacher thinks I need "special" assistance! Ok so the teacher gave everybody a sheet to do for homework but I forgot it at school so I didn't finish. Anyway there was this question that went somewhat like this.."Quand commence les vacances d'ete?" For some reason I was thinking about another question involving september still being in the summer season. So when I read the, "Quand commence les vacances d'ete?" question I was thinking of vacations in september. I couldn't think of any holidays or vacations in september so I asked the teacher to abbreviate for me. She translated it into english thinking that maybe I didn't know french that well. I guess I panicked and looked really confused. My french teacher looked very stupefied as she said, "Summer vacation starts in July and August." I felt SOOO stupid at that moment. Of course I knew when summer vacation started but I just (for some retarded reason) couldn't think of it at that moment. Thank God no one else was in the room or I never would have heard the end of it. Anyway now I think my french teacher basically thinks I have a mental disability. How can I prove to her that I'm not as air-headed as I appear? How do I set a good second impression?
