According to a 2007 Gallup poll, the majority of Republicans (68%) do not believe the theory of evolution is true and do not believe that humans evolved over millions of years from less advanced forms of life.
From Gallup: "Being religious in America today is strongly related to partisanship, with more religious Americans in general much more likely to be Republicans than to be independents or Democrats. This relationship helps explain the finding that Republicans are significantly more likely than independents or Democrats to say they do not believe in evolution."
As to what percentage of Republicans are conservative, that's hard to know, so it would be hard to extrapolate that number.
Unfortunately, when most of them speak of evolution, they get it mixed up with the beginning of the universe. They're not related.

A LARGE percentage of conservatives do not believe in evolution.
THE beginning of the world is completely related to evolution. How the earth was made would affect what lifeforms existed on it, would it not? Which relates completely to evolution.

I am fiscally conservative and I believe in evolution.
But if someone doesn't then who cares. Let people live their own lives and believe what they want to believe (I thought that was a liberal concept)

How does evolution explain the first life form, where there was none before?
While I believe in evolution as an instrument of change, there are a number of strong scientific refutations of it. I doubt it will ever reach a stage of being above reproach.
