    first, you have to subtract 5k from both sides

    2k=5k-30

    -5k -5k

    that way your equation looks like

    -3k=-30

    then divide each side by -3

    (-3k)/3= (-30)/30

    and finally you will have your answer

    K=-10

    **the whole idea is to get your variable (in this case "K") to one side of the equation and then simplify**

    best of luck

    -DK

    You are trying to isolate k.

    2k=5k-30 (subtract 5k from both sides to get all of k on one side)

    -5k -5k

    -3k=-30 (divide by -3 to get the coefficient of k to be 1)

    -----------

    -3

    k=10!!!

    Isolate the words with the x's so they're the two on a similar area of the equation and circulate the values devoid of the x to the different area. 14x - 12x = 8 + 31 carried out by subtracting 12x from the nicely suited area so 12x - 12x = 0 and subtracting 12x from the left area so as which you have 14x - 12x. in a similar way, I extra 31 to the two aspects so it zeroes out on the left and on the nicely suited you have 8 + 31. Then combine like words. 14x - 12x = 2x and eight + 31 =39 So the equation will become 2x = 39 Then divide the two aspects by two to isolate the x. x = 39/2 = 19.5

    2k=5k-30

    2k-5k=-30

    -3k=-30

    k=-30/-3

    k=10
