How much contempt for America was exhibited by John Boehner handing out lobbyist checks on the House floor?

A recent question asked if Obama is envious of John Boehner.

I guess everyone should be envious of Mr. Boehner because how many of us would have the chutzpah to show utter contempt for Americans by handing out lobbyist checks from tobacco lobbyists to his fellow Republicans just prior to a vote on tobacco subsidies on the House floor?

Don't you think that you really need to be secure in your contempt and corruption to do that like Mr. Boehner did in 1996 and then to try to razz Obama about Goldman Sachs when it has been one of his key and largest donors for two decades?

"...The top donor to Boehner's leadership PAC in 2003-2004 was SLM Corp., the Reston, Virginia-based student-loan company better known as Sallie Mae. SLM contributed $65,170 to Boehner's Freedom Project, more than twice as much as the second-biggest donor, New York-based Goldman Sachs Group Inc. The money came as the House Education and Workforce Committee, which Boehner chairs, prepared to write new legislation governing student loans.

In 1995, Boehner handed out campaign checks from the tobacco industry to members on the House floor at a time when lawmakers were considering eliminating a tobacco subsidy.

Representative Chris Shays, a Connecticut Republican, said he believes that Boehner is even closer to lobbyists than Blunt. ``The problem John faces is that he's so close to K Street; that's the challenge he's got,'' said Shays, who's backing Blunt...."

Don't you think that you really must reek when one of your fellow Republican Congressmen says that you are too tied to lobbyists?

Update:

Liar? How about reading the article. Boehner has admitted doing it. Are so many of you so far gone that even when someone admits they did something you will say that they didn't?

The Republicans have been behaving so epically horrible since Obama was sworn in, that it's almost unbelievable. Apparently there isn't one man or woman in the Republican Congress- representative. or senator- who have even an ounce of integrity, honesty, decency, honor or sanity remaining. Their job seems to be pimping for the teaparty wackos. It's quite sad, actually. Deliberate, in-your-face obstructionism, racism, divisiveness, fear-mongering and lying is the face of the "New Republican Party". Just look at that clueless nitwit, Michael Steele! Some of the things that man has said are so far out there, it's like he's from another planet. If a Democrat had EVER yelled "You lie!" at Bush, he would have been tarred and feathered! Dickless Cheney flat out said. "As far as I'm concerned, Rush Limbaugh IS the voice of the Republican Party." And this was after that fat pig had stated repeatedly that "I want Obama to fail." Really?? And Republicans were OK with that????? It's out-of hand and out-of-control, and I PRAY the Republicans get annihilated in November, the low-life pricks.

It was a disgusting act and makes his intentions quite clear - he is not for the people and our laws. The right won't answer you honestly, however. It's all "Obama uses lobbyists" and "not true." The first answer completely avoids the question of handing out checks on the floor of where our laws our made. The second ignores reality.

It's not America that he showed contempt for. It's us. It was a masterful display of Congressional excess at its best. I'm beginning to think that there's something more behind it than just hubris.

Mr. Boehner's little show was relatively well-reported. The right, of course, was fairly quiet about it.

Unfortunately, lobbyist checks have become a way of life for politicians be there liberal or conservative, black or white. It is unfair to single out Boehner. The whole lot of them from top to bottom need to go.

they won't see ANY facts, and they WON'T address the issue: it's a stone walled world where only their view is true.

The truth is that the tan-man is scum, Newt is scum....and they put them up as the leaders.

What I think is that you must be out of your mind trying to slander someone on their contributions when your own President was the 2nd leading recipient of kickbacks from the people who caused the real estate crash and the largest recipient of kickbacks from BP for over 20 years.

I knew you were a moonbat, but I gave you far to much credit for having a degree of intelligence.

Take a look at obama and company, and their great example of no lobbyists in the regime. Even after he opened his yap and promised there would be none, zero, zip, zilch.

You don't really want to talk about recipients of lobby money do you?

You may want some facts first.

Dems pay lobbyists as well, if you are going to do it, why not on the house floor?

I really haven't yet decided what I think of him, but your post makes me want to defend him.
