clear acrylic coasters--scratched?

I completed some cross-stitched coasters from a kit. The coasters are made from clear acrylic so you can see the cross-stitched design through them, but after years of use, they have become scratched to the point where you can no longer see it.

Is there some type of substance I can use on the scratches to restore them; or, if I buy new ones, is there some kind of plastic stick-on shield that will protect them from scratching?

If you don't want to polish them, you could try brushing on a clear polyurethane (hardware store)...guess I'd suggest a water-based, gloss one (or a clear acrylic fingernail polish could also work) . The clear finish should fill in all the scratches (clean everything with alcohol first), and make it look clear again. Polyurethane is a tougher finish than resins usually have, though you could also brush or pour another layer of epoxy resin onto the ones you have.

After that, you could try protecting the plastic with clear self-adhesive plastic "label" sheets (office supply store) or even wide clear packing tape though creating just the right size could be fiddly.

You can probably also just buy new clear plastic coaster 'blanks" and put your cross-stitch in those since many of the spaces for the canvas will be the same:
