Reference for a flat - can i use?
Hello,
My boyfriend and I are moving into our first flat next month. The agent and land lord have asked us both for a character reference. The references can obviously not be family but they can be a family friend. Can i ask my boyfriends mother for the reference? Or will they not accept this? I ask because the surname will be the same as my boyfriends.
Should i do it or just get someone else to write one?

Yes i already have my manager sorted as i also need an employer reference. I only ask because the estate agent said the character reference could be a family friend, neighbour, teacher etc. So technically she is not family so i wanted to ask.

Being a landlord I accept references from employers, banks etc but not from your boyfriends mother most landlords do the same
