    @ Matt White -

    Don't be a snob / racist!

A lot of American bands were doing their version of punk at the same time as "our" bands. Difference is they went on to create hardcore and what did we get? New Romantics!

My nomination for deflated punk whoopee cushion goes to:

JOHNNY ROTTEN for his run of butter adverts, Very "punk" Mr Lydon!

    Stiff Little Fingers

    The Members.

Cock Sparrer - great band, look like a "building site with guitars" as someone once said.

999 have indeed put on some weight but what's really embarrassing is Nick Cash's onstage banter - sounds like he's trying to whip up a crowd of 15 year olds when most of the audience are older than me!

bond - Like you I saw GBH play one of the worst gigs I've ever seen! Colin was so trolleyed he couldn't keep up with the others and b the end of the set he was just gibbering nonsense! Annoying on the night but funny in hindsight! They've been really good the last few times I saw them though. They've stayed part of the punk scene as well unlike a lot of the oldies who've come out of retirement. Same goes for Dick Lucas - a genuine punk eccentric!

And so... what is the antidote? Stop making the music they love and made famous just because they got older?? We all get older.. doesn't mean we have to give into some predetermined notion of how we should act.

Yes, I'm a little put off by this question *because* as a budding senior citizen, it's an "ageism" joke. pffft

Yeah, sorry. Then we can be cranky together?

gbh..saw them at botttom of the hill and the bass player threw a fit and walked off. just looked messy as hell.

saw em again in austin a few months ago and it was solid.

one 80's band that ive seen a bunch of times in the past years is subhumans and they still tear it up. dick lucas has energy up the wazoo for a dinosaur!

All of them. Every single one! Old punkers do not grow gracefully - too wrinkled, too thick, too slow, too much over-the-top indulgences and very little cutting edge left in them. Talking about my overthehill & beyond generation.

Note: Mick Jagger & the Stones were holding up much better & that is really my Gen.

Black Flag. Henry Rollins looks like an angry stepdad now.

Edit: Oh, and Keith Morris. He looks like a homeless person...and like he's about 150 years old...
