A dog ages very fast in the first few years. so the 1 dog year = 7 human years, does not work. A better formula is to figure 1 dog year = 15 human years, 2 dog years = 24. Then add 4 years for
each remaining year for small dogs, 6 for large dogs and 8 for giant breeds. So your dog would be 28.

18. The 7 years for each human year does not stand anymore. Dogs live longer today than in years back for the care they now get. It is now 7 for a year old dog and then it drops one year from the 7 per human year: example: 7 for 1 year, 6 for 2 years, 5 for 3 years and so forth. So a year old dog is 7 but a 2 year old dog is 13. Add the 7 and 6 together.

specialists approximate 7 years for every 1 year, in terms of dogs age, but this varies on the dogs size.....your chihuahua is roughly 21, but could easily be the equivalent of a younger age

Roughly 18 y/o. Small dogs age slower than large dogs, it's 6 dog years to every one human year. Great Danes age 7-9 years for every one human year and medium dogs age 7 years to every one human year.
