Would help to know what area you are from because the programs vary from state to state even city to city...But you can try charities like st.vincent de paul or other churches and see what they recommend. It can be hard to purchase a car on a fixed income I know.. I however just found a nice reliable car on craigs list. They were asking 800 bucks and took 600 and they lived locally so they even delivered it to me. So start checking craigs list until you can get some answers. you can even post an ad on craigs list that you are looking for a dependable cheap car and explain about your disability and maybe someone will help you out. I've seen similar ads on there like single mom looking for cheap car from an honest seller. Good luck!

Check with your Social Service Worker at Social Service and see what programs they might be able to help with. When I used to work at SS, we would help with used cars, furniture, clothes and so on. It would be like a one time deal. Since it is a State program, each state has their own was of doing things, so your state might not be of help. I like referring people to big churches. As I have noted before, Catholic churches with schools are good. Some people donate cars. Check with the GoodWill and see if the offer help. Asking questions are free.
