How do I know if I scored some first edition books?

Question

I went to a garage sale and bought some old Stephen King books, and I want to know if they are first editions.  I think they are because on the inside of the first page or two, it lists the books he's written and there are only three listed. So I bought all she had and found more old books by King.  I have a pretty god collection of hard covers so I bought these for my Collection, first editions would be a bonus!

Also, you can look for the book in wikipedia. They sometimes list the ISBN of the book's first edition there and you could double-check it with the ISBN of yours.

Look at the title page and check the printing history.  The list of King's books doesn't matter much; often if an author changes publishers the new publisher will insist on putting only the books that they published on the list.
