Why DON'T any "good" Muslims come forward?

I keep hearing this question, and it appears to be a valid one.

Why indeed?

You WILL hear an occassional Muslim cleric come forward (probably ordered to do so) and pay lip service to the need for more moderation on the part of his extremist brethren, but that's only so it can be said that: "yes, we did come forward"

No....No.... we're taking about the poor little woman on the street in a bourka coming forward and saying something like: "What's with these nuts flying into skyscrapers?...we LIVE here!"

Answers, my Muslim friends?

Update:

Allright; I understand by some of you highly-insulted individuals that, indeed, SOME "good" Muslims have come forward.

Would any one of you care to quote an article and name the publication or media that was involved?

P.S.

And, just out of curiosity, what, exactly, was it in my question that caused me to be accused of being a Muslim-hater?

Look in the quran, there is NOTHING like a good/moderate muslim or a bad/extremist muslim. A muslim is a muslim the one who submits to allah.

Tags like good/moderate muslim or bad/extremist muslims are just misnomers to FOOL the naive west.

Read the quran and the hadiths and tell us was Mohammad a good muslim or a bad one (like those we hear and see on the Television)

If the ones that the "media" shows are "bad" muslims then mohammad was not a muslim.

The answer to your question is, the media will only show the bad side to islam, the extreemists point of view because it makes good entertainment and the good ones do come forward, but the bad just overshadows them.

I agree with you, that more good muslims should come forward. But the media just dont want to allow that do they? I have always been very open minded about all religions, comming from a muslim/christian home/background. I have decided to follow neither path but, i still keep an open mind about it all.

I have to admit though, and i will probably get thumbs down for this, Muslims do shoot themselves in the foot sometimes which is why there is so much bad press about them. But at the end of the day, if more people were open minded and knew the more peaceful side to islam, like i grew up with, then they would probably not be so judgemental..but you will always get one wont you.

@fireball: Ramadan is not something you "go to". Its something you do.

I know many who have come forward and said that the extremists in the middle east were crazy. The problem is, people still lump together with those nut jobs. It's not like they can make a public service announcement on the news though.

i do no longer think in faith. Who provides all and sundry the wonderful to brainwash individuals? it quite is all voodoo & look wotz happening interior the international now & interior the previous because of the fact of it !!! i do no longer desire any preacher of any faith to tell me what I could or could'nt have faith in. as quickly as we are adults & could make a dicision for ourselves, that's one component. yet to pump faith into the minds of harmless babies is Brainwashing at that's right. i'm an quite solid guy or woman & do no longer hate all and sundry. i think there is something accessible yet i do no longer placed a recognition to it.

The extremists are hardest on fellow Muslims who go against them.

"Go to" Ramadan. There goes fireball, dazzling us with her in depth knowledge of Islam. Where *is* Ramadan anyway? I can't find it on these gol-darned new fangled maps!

For the same reason almost no "good" christians come forward and express their outrage at the way the fundies are subverting our schools, society, and government.

they have done so in the past and they continue to do so. it's not their problem that you're too blinded by your hatred for them that you don't see them condemning terrorism.
