Just recently my dorm mates and I got some Glow fish, a guppy, and some tetra fish, and I was wondering if it was safe to put deco mud beads in the tank with them. I think they are really Pretty and the colors would be a nice accent to the fishes bright colors, however I can't find out if it would be harmful to the fish. I know its safe for plants, and that's what they are designed for, but I can't find anything about for fish!
before you ask about using regular marbles, I want round ones and they don't carry them in my town and I don't like buying things off e-bay if I can avoid it, and this deco mud is readily available and cheep.
turns out that although not poisonous they explode when they over hydrate :P and are not as pretty.

I am not familiar with deco mud. What is is made of? I think they might be water soluble which is not good for the aquarium.
