I have acute pain in my lower back..?

I've always had this pain come randomly since I was about 17 and I'm 21 now. It never bothered me because it wasn't frequent. I got pregnant and it was happening about 5-10 times a day. I never mentioned anything to the doctor because I figured it would be back to normal after the pregnancy was over. It's been 5mths now and the pain comes once or twice every other day. It's a quick sharp pinch on the left side of my butt. Like maybe it's lower lumbar or upper sacrum. The pain only last for a quick second or two. My concern is how often it happens compared to before I was pregnant. I don't feel numbness, and it does radiate down a little but it doesn't go past my butt.

I've done research online and the closest thing I found was a herniated disc, but I don't have numbness, weakness in the legs, or any of the other symptoms of a herniated disc.

I would like to see a doctor about this problem but I can't. The quick sharp pains that last only seconds doesn't seem like it's an emergency yet. I don't have numbness and it does not radiate past my butt.

If anybody has some exercises I can do or maybe another possible diagnosis I would be grateful.

You would know if you herniated a disc. Chances are, you have a bulging disc. I have a few and the pain comes on (strongly) "here and there"- not constant. I went and got injections in february the last time it was REALLY bad (bent over like an old lady...) and I feel great. See a pain doctor. The will most likely give you an order to get an MRI. They can determine exactly what is going on and how the best way to treat you. :) Good luck!

Maybe IBS (irritable bowel syndrome)? It runs in households. If you might have little marble-like bowel events in the bathroom regularly, then that's one indicator of the constipation/cramping aspect of it. The different aspect is diarrhea and cramping. Only a gastroenterologist physician might inform you for certain approximately that. Mostly nuts, seeds, popcorn and so forth can rationale constipation cramps. And lettuce and soda pop can rationale diarrhea cramps. Caffeine and nerves/pressure can rationale cramping of both type. Nausea can also be facet of the cramping and it might believe just like the flu. You might even be possibly ovulating on either side(no longer certain of the timing of that however it's probably no longer on either side) or have ovarian cysts on either side.

Go to a chiropractor; when my mom was pregnant with my sister she had pains like that and it was a nerve getting pinched or something. She went to the chiropractor a couple times and never had trouble with it again.
