Silencer for 9mm help.?
I live in the country with plenty of land and recently my neighbor has been bothering me about the sound of the gunfire. I was wondering if someone knew where to find a silencer for a Smith and Wesson, Sigma Series, Model SW9VE Pistol. I don't really mind a price. My neighbor said he would pay half as long as he didn't have to hear my gun. The link below is the exact model I need help finding a silencer for.
I have already checked laws etc. That's why I posted this as a "Where can I buy one" question.

Silencers are legal for unlicensed civilians in AL, AR, AK, AZ, CO, CT, FL, GA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MD, MO (with C&R), MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, NC, ND, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA (bans use), WV, WI, and WY. The word silencer is a legal term used by the feds to describe suppressors.
You can find a list of dealers at http://www.subguns.com/ . You will also need a threaded barrel to mount the silencer, but I do not know of anyone who makes one for the Sigma. A silencer will make the pistol much less noisy, but not quiet. Look here for noise levels; http://www.silencertests.com/results.htm . You may still need ear plugs and your neighbor will still hear it probably.
Your dealer will supply you with an ATF form 4. Your local sheriff signs the back unless you use a trust or Corp. to own it for you. If the sheriff will not sign, you can ask a judge or DA. The form is sent in along with form 5330.20, two finger print cards, two passport sized photos and a check for $200. It takes 3-6 months for approval. Approval is routine and never denied to anyone who can own a firearm and is 21 or over (when buying from a dealer). A silencer will cost $500 and up. The Sigma will need a recoil booster to function correctly as it is a modified browning design. The recoil booster will add about $150 if it is not included with the silencer.

First you must live in a state and locality that allows the ownership of suppressors (no such animal as a silencer), as you local sheriff will have to sign or chief law enforcement officer will have to sign the application to the BATFE. Then you have to purchase an extended, threaded barrel to match the threads of the suppressor you choose. A good 9mm suppressor runs between $500 & $1000 with the quieter one at the higher end. Then you must submit 2 sets of fingerprints to the BATFE along with two hundred dollars for the federal excise tax. Get in touch with a local Class III FFL holder. He will be able to help you if you still want one. If there are no such dealers near you it's probably because they are not permitted in your locale.

The main thing is living in a state that allows Class III items like a Suppressor. If you do, contact your local Class III dealer and s/he can walk you through everything. Note, the Tax stamp alone is 200.00 plus the Suppressor and takes about 4-6 months to receive from start to finish.

Its a felony. Im not sure about the costs of the fines, however thats not so important when you consider the 10 year federal prison sentance. Not to mention that your state laws might prohibit them (not all states allow them) and you could have state felonies on top of the federal ones. its not a joke, destroy it and forget you ever made it. And stop buying hi-points, they are garbage.
