What type of switch to use in an automotive circuit?
For example fuel pump power wire is 12DC 7A, Could I use a 12V 7A switch? Would using a higher rating switch be best (last longer/reliable)?

Are you referring to toggle switches? Just get a good quality toggle switch which will be rated at 10 or 15 amps.
