They are asking you to think about your own life and the challenges you have faced Many human problems are common to us all, although to different degrees, depending on factors such as economic status, personal support systems, education, personal resilience to name a few. We also know that common life events can be very stressful. In fact a lot of these events have been ranked as to most stressful - these events include marriage, birth of a child, death of a loved one, moving, unemployment, economic stress, divorce and so on. I don't know what human service field you will be employed in, but self reflection can help you to develop empathy. Developing empathy will also lead to the development of patience: you will need both to be successful in your field

Yeah sounds like a vague question.

I think it's asking you what experiences you've had where you were helped by others who were providing "human service". Obviously having had those experiences will help you when you go on to help others, either becuase they were good experiences and you learned from them, or because they were bad and this helped you to think and understand what would have been a good experience for you.

What is it about what you have been through in your life that will help you understand a range of other peoples' issues? Have been mugged, your house burgled, car stolen, had a friend who died... what is it about you that others may experience the same things- what gives you common ground with others who you will be helping?
