Anyone been to the Watergate club in Berlin?

We went to this club yesterday, as German-speaking English tourists in a small, mixed-sex group (1 girl and two guys) at about 1.30/2am, but we were turned away - ostensibly for being either dressed 'too smart', or just that we 'wouldn't fit in'.

Does anyone have any advice for what to do to get in? Or is it impossible if you're not a Berliner?

Depends on the bouncer and additionally that can change from day to day, there is no general advice usually the bouncer tells you why you do not fit in, it might be that there were already too many guys that evening the bouncers also care that there is neither only girls nor only guys but try to make it an equal amount of people of either gender.

    There are several possibilities

    1) You were according to the opinion of the bouncer not dressed to fit in the club.

    2) On that evening there were too many guys in the club so the bouncer would not let in 1 female and 2 male guests.

    3) There was a so called Geschlossene Gesellschaft meaning a group rented the entire location for that evening.

Usually the bouncers in Germany tell you the reason why you are getting turned away.
