Change default audio devices without rebooting?

Windows XP SP3 ASUS P5B SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio (Analog Devices)

I installed a Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 Headset which made itself the default audio device.

I want to be able to switch from my regular speakers to the headset without having to change it in Sound and Audio Devices Properties and REBOOTING each time.

Better yet I would like to have both the speakers and the headset on all the time.

Any ideas.

Thanks

Michael

You can change it in Sound ans Audio Devices, without rebooting, rebooting isn't needed. You can just log off your user, then log back on.

If the audio card or built-in circuitry has not been harmed, then yes. Just open the Device Manager, right-click on the Computer icon at the top of the device hierarchy, and choose to scan for hardware changes. The deleted audio card or subsystem should be detected again.

did u install the software that came with the headset? u should let windows manage the hardware; no worries then. If u did, uninstall the software... GL
