Republicans: What, SPECIFICALLY, do you not like about Pres. Obama's Health Care Plan?

First of all, may we at least recognize that Health Care in the United States will NEVER become a reality unless our taxes are raised?

If you are an advocate of Health Care providers, please do not even bother answering this question.

If the abuses to our citizens by these so-called Health Insurance providers are not apparent to you, there is no reasoning with you.

Okay, first off let's look at the health care problem in the US. It's cost. Universally across all people the problem is cost. Lower the cost and the access comes with it. So why would raising taxes help anything? Raising taxes means people are spending more money. How would that fix the cost issue?

The main problem I have with Obamacare is that it presumes that health insurance is a right instead of being an individual/family choice. It allows coverage of children until they are 26 which will increase costs for everyone else. It doesn't allow appropriate means of dealing with pre-existing conditions, which will also increase costs for everyone. It doesn't take any steps to increase competition among insurance providers. Some will say "Oh but they wanted to do the full government option program which would compete with insurance providers" or whatever but no.. that would end up with a monopoly by government since it doesn't need to follow the same rules that private companies do and doesn't need to manage a budget since they can borrow/print money to no ends.

Another big time problem with Obamacare is how by requiring coverage of those with pre-existing conditions, it encourages people to think about not signing up for coverage until they are sitting on the operating table because the penalty fee (which is unconstitutional in itself) is cheaper than paying for insurance. This combined with other things is the reason that it's widely (and growing) predicted that the legislation will cause longer ER wait times along with reduced access to primary care physicians.

And to put it simply, until the existing government programs work (Medicaid/Medicare) effectively and efficiently why would I even consider supporting government control over even more of the health care system?? What is this.. "Fool me twice and.. hold on a sec while I grab a blindfold"?

But to summarize: Obamacare will increase costs and reduces access to care compared to what we have now. How is that improving anything. Helping a few million people at the expense of degrading the system for the remaining 300 or so million isn't exactly my idea of reform.

What do you mean health care will never become a reality? We have some of the best. That's why so many people come from other countries for medical treatment.

You don't care why Democrats don't like it?

Here are couple of reasons I don't like it. My insurance currently paid 100% by my employer will have one or more of these happen when the premiums are taxed 40% just because it has excellent coverage. My employer will have to choose a cheaper, less inclusive plan. Or I will be forced to make up that extra 40%, essentially a pay cut. Or My employer may quit paying completely so that I can buy a crappy policy on my own.

I will be taxed to provide insurance for other people who will be forced to pay for policies that MUST by mandate include provisions they do not want or need.

You will be taxed to provide insurance for people who will be forced to buy policies with provisions they do not want or need.

You will be forced to buy insurance that includes coverage that you may not want or need.

Please note that even though I do not agree with you I still do not like for you to be forced to buy insurance even if you don't seem to mind. I suspect that you expect to come out ahead somehow. Keep smokin it.

Obama blaming Republicans and not Democrats for his failed wellness Care plan ? Obama is utilising an previous tactic to demonize the Republicans. The clever human beings understand that they stop the democrats of their tracks. question: Why do you think of Obama won't be able to take accountability for this ? he's only too immature to handle accountability for his strikes because of the fact he won a unfastened bypass from everybody in his existence. 1. Fed Gov has no Constitutional authority to mandate such health insurance.

    2. Fed Gov has screwed up every single social program they have created. All are out of money, bloated and horribly complex for the user to use.

3.They have to collect for 4 years before they can sustain the next 6. In what world will that kind of budgeting be sustainable?

I do not like the fact that I am forced to buy govt approved healthcare or suffer a fine. I dont like the fact that I will have to pay a healthcare tax so that those who cannot afford healthcare can be given it. I do not like the how Obama at frist promised it was not a tax and during his campaign denounced govt mandated items, but then flipped it and now defends it as a tax saying the govt has the right to tax its people for what it seems fit. I also believe that it is unconstitutional for the Govt to force you to buy anything, which I view healthcare as. If the bill is not repealed I will not pay the tax nor willingly buy the healthcare.

I don't like that Obama did not address the cost issue to individuals and that we cannot buy insurance across state lines. I don't care for the fact that this was forced upon us, us being the majority of citizens who didn't want it. I don't care for the FACT that my husband and I have to pay 1200 a month for insurance through the Obama funded temporary insurance pool until 2014 when we are forced to buy insurance that we cannot afford but sorely need because we have pre-existing and we are self-employed.

As a direct result of Yo'mama Care my mother-in-law was denied overnight cardiac monitoring in spite of multiple bypass surgery and congestive heart failure. She and her husband spent their lives ensuring this wouldn't happen to them also.

As a direct result of Yo'mama Care my insurance company has reduced my coverage and increased my rates. So the 40+ years I spent ensuring I wouldn't be at the mercy of some bureaucratic hack was a waste of time. I just received the call after I read your question. I was going to let the second one ride but since I decided to grace your question with an answer at all you will get it all.

I don't like the fact that I am in the majority and still screwed.

I don't like being forced to purchase something.

I don't like the fact that it will bankrupt ALL producers in the US for at least 3 generations.

Not being gay, I don't care to have anything stuck up my ash.

I don't like over 3000 pages of legalese.

I don't like the myriad of amendments not related to health care.

I don't like the paid off legislators' votes.

    I don't like the exemptions.

Actually there is very little I do like about it.

I also want to advise you and all other that the US government is certain to screw up 107% of everything they try to do. Not 106% but the full 107% that means they screw up everything they touch and within any group of 100 you will find 7 that they have screwed up twice. A should further warn you that they DO NOT learn anything anytime. They are just as stupid after they screw something up as they were before they screwed it up.

Death panels are on the march, deny that and label yourself a full fledged FOOL.

Maybe there are abuses by insurers. But I have been under employer sponsored private plans for decades, and raised 3 kids. My insurer has always came through for me. And keep in mind that 70+ percent of US residents claim to be happy with their insurance.

  • 1 decade ago

It does nothing to lower costs. In fact my insurance has gone up already and plus I have to pay part of the trillion dollar cost of it for no benefit.

If you think the health insurance companies are not going to come out on top on this there is no reasoning with you.

The government should have NO role in my health care. It's my body. I have the right to choose. Or is that just reserved for abortion?
