iChat question?? problem with adding people?
I've just got iChat, and have signed in with my Gmail account.
but whenever i add my friends with a .mac account, it doesnt add or work
are they not compatable / are they not interchangeable??
do i need a .mac / .aim account???

I use Gmail on my iChat, and have never had a problem connecting to ".Mac" account users.
BUT, when you add a ".Mac" account user, they automatically receive a Notification that they must agree to, FIRST, to let you add them, before you can see them on your Contacts / Buddies list.
So, call each friend on the phone or via Email, and tell them what you are trying to do, so they don't misunderstand the Notification Message, and panic.
