So I bought windows 7 for a comp. running windows vista, and installed it ect. It has since broken, and I have decided to reinstall it using windows vista (as it is very slow anyway), Can I now install my legit copy of windows 7 onto my macbook pro using bootcamp, or will microsoft not allow this (registration/cd key) to be installed again, even though it will only be in use on 1 machine at a time.

Hi, I have a few movies on my macbook, and I wish to put them on my iTouch Second gen. The problem is that i've heard that .avi movie files cannot be put on a iPod Touch?!

Is there any FREE software to swiftly and easily convert the files over!?

Please ( i don't mind if they are 14 day free trials) because i've got my movie collection, and i wont be acquiring any more for a while!!

I recently bought a 2010 macbook pro 15" (core i5) and have been enjoying it a lot.

I've used approx 20gigz for music, 30gigz for photos and 20gigz for games all in all 90 / 320GB..

Then suddenly I got a warning stating that my startup disk was full, please free up space.

I then checked my HDD and it was 319.8GB full or something, and WTF? my speedy i5 was slower than an atom.

I attempted to re-start, but was taking ages (i waited 10-15 mins) so i powered off! It was okay when i turned it on again... and is good n' speedy now.

Should i be worried? or is this a typical mac ailment.

I've just got iChat, and have signed in with my Gmail account.

but whenever i add my friends with a .mac account, it doesnt add or work

are they not compatable / are they not interchangeable??

do i need a .mac / .aim account???

I've downloaded and installed OpenOffice for my new Macbook Pro, and i have been extremely dissapointed for one reason - it keeps on crashing and 'not responding'. I can not save any work, and it keeps on crashing whenever i try to click save.

its not a prob with my mac, as other people have experienced similar problems too. (my mac has decent specs too - (i5, 4GB ram etc) so this isn't a problem!)

Whenever I attempt to 'sync' my 2nd Gen iPod Touch with my latest version of iTunes (on my Macbook Pro) an error occurs. About half way through, a 'Error, iPod could not be synced -050' message occurs.

This only happens when i tick the "convert higher bitrate songs to 128kbps AAC" button (this compresses the song size, and allows me to fit all 15 GBs of songs into my 16GB iTouch (using onyl 7.5GB !)

However, when i normally sink it with out compression, it seems to be okay..

any help would be appreciated!!!

I have just moved to a macbook pro (I will never go back to a windows) and I have my old External HDD.

I would like to create a backup system in which every week or so, all my files (music, work, etc) get automatically backed up to my HDD. I could do this easily on my old windows PC, but on my mac, the only way I can seem to do it is by manually dragging my sh*t over to the HDD!

There has got to be an easy way, like windows does (where its done every week or so), or like the Apple TimePortal/machine whatever it is (but its way too expensive)???

I am hoping to buy a macbook pro 15" soon. I also need to be able to run photoshop on this. I have seen mac's using photoshop, so obviously there is some way of getting it to run. My question is, does a mac need a MAC version of photoshop to install and run, or is the same version of Photoshop CS3 that i'm currently using on my netbook (apalling performance!) able to run / install on a mac.

Some programs such as word need a mac version, whereas others such as Starcraft 2 are for both os's.

I also haven't found a photoshop CS3 for mac only edition, so before i buy my mac i need to know this!

I'm 6'3 / 190cm - so will I fit in one of these cars?

I'm going to buy the lowest spec 15 inch MacbookPro (2010 edition) with a:

~ 2.4Ghz Core i5 (Turbo-boost to 2.93Ghz)

~ 4 GB DDR3 Ram (1033Mhz)

~ Geforce 330M GT (256MB GDDR3)

~ 320GB HDD (5400rpm)

I'm not buying it with gaming in mind, but as an added bonus, I would hope it can play games such as GTA-IV, DiRT 2 and Napoleon: Total War?

Can you give your opinion on the specs and it's relative gaming performance?

Every time i open a new word document, it's set to "English (US)" instead of "English (UK)", even though I always set UK as the default.

Normally it wouldn't really bother me, but since I'm going to an english school, where teachers get pissy if i write "maneuvered" instead of "manoeuvered"!

Is there any way i can PERMENANTLY change the default, because the default button doesn;t seem to work :S

Just out of interest, how powerful (i don't know in what way... calculations per second??? idk) is the human brain in comparison to an average computer?

The new core i5 MBP 15 inch ($1799) comes with a 1440x900 screen as a standard, but there is an option for a Hi definition version with 1680x1050 pick-sells ! (for $50 extra bucks or so?!)

Is it worth it?

I really would like to get a Macbook Pro 15", because I am fed up with windows 7, vista & XP. I have had a dell (which had a faulty graphics card & broke in 14 months) and a vaio W netbook, which is honestly dreadfully slow.

I am now looking at the MBP 15" with the 2.4GHz i5 and 330m GT GPU.

My problemo is that I can't quite afford the 15" (@ $1799), and thus, I am probs getting the 13" MBP (@ $1199). Sadly, this doesn't feature the i5 or the 330m GT GPU, insdead, a simple 2.4GHz Core2Duo & 320m GPU.

~ Would the 320m GPU (shared memory rather than dedicated) be able to game well? - my main intention - or should i wait another year or 1/2 a year 'till i save up for the nice 15"?

On a the Macbook Pro 15", there is the option to get an antigare screen over a glossy one:

after doing some research on the web, the conclusion i have come to is (obviosuly) glossy is good for indoor usage, and antiglare for outdoor usage. But my question is: is antiglare as high quality/bright/has the same depth of colour as the glossy screen?

It only has a 1.3Ghz dual processor, can this really be considered as a gaming laptop?

will the processor be able to handle new games such as COD6 and DiRT 2???
