Dial-up box keeps popping up?
I just added a USB WiFi antenna to my desktop and it's up and running fine. The problem is that my old dial-up box keeps popping up even though I am already online with the WiFi connection.
I want to keep the dial-up connection as a back-up. I have unchecked it as the default connection in the control panel but can't find how to keep it from activating when a network connection is present. I am using Windows XP.

Open Internet Explorer.
Click Tools, then Internet Options.
Go to the connections tab and select Never Dial a connection.
click OK and you should be good.
If you need to use it again, just repeat the steps and select always dial. That should eliminate the dialog box even if you are using another browser.

Go to Control Panel > Network. Right click dial up and uncheck "re-dial if line is dropped" (or something like that.
