Why do republicans accuse Dems of supporting "big government"...?
"Big Government"? Are you serious? Coming from the party who wants to publicly regulate sexual morality and give the government the right to basically override every single constitutional freedom as long as it's in the name of "combating terrorism"?
The only party which truly wants small government is the libertarian party. I'm not saying I support them. But please, Republicans, quit bringing up 'big government' against the Democrats. The Democrats want big government where the economy is concerned, whereas you guys want big government where people's private lives and victimless ;crimes' are concerned. You're every bit as bad as the democrats.
"what do you call the bailouts.and corporate take overs, the expansion of health care, how many more cabinet positions and new entitlements.wow.how out of touch can one be."
I call those actions "big government", certainly.
Now let me ask you:
What do YOU call the Patriot Act, warantless wiretapping, extra judicial murder and detention, legalization of torture, discrimination against homosexuals, restrictions on "indeceny", censorship etc?
ALSO 'big government', no?
"What constitutional freedom do Republicans want to take away from people? Where are your facts?"
Dude I just listed a few. Warantless wiretapping. Rendition. Lying to the public about the existence of black sites. Campaigning against sexual equality. Racial profiling. Etc.
"I could care less about regulating morality. That is none on our business."
So why vote for the party which does this?
" How does the Republican Party want to regulate sexual morality?"
Abstinence only education, attempts to restrict or ban contraception, opposing equal rights for homosexuals, going ape sh*t just because janet jackson exposed her breast for about 5 seconds in public, attempting to censor media of 'indecency', etc - these are all Social Conservative policies and are a huge intrusion of the government into our private lives.

You get a star, great question!
The Republican party has a long standing tradition of saying they are the party of the every man, of real America, of justice, Constitutional rights and therefore equal rights for all Americans.
However the reality does not fit the lip service. This is the same party who wants to prevent the building of a mosque based on the great thinking of a) people who said they were Muslim attacked America b) therefore all those people who say they are Muslim also want to attack this country. To me there seems to be some large missteps in this logic.
This same party is very vocal about wanting the government 'out of our lives' but refuses to allow the most personal aspects of our lives to be under our control. The ability to raise a family as we see fit, to marry who we want, to even serve this country has been stifled or even completely removed by the party of "small government" - seems rather counter-intuitive to me.
The Libertarian party is the only party who represents a minimal government where the best interests of this country are concerned. The Republicans however have identified that there are many people who feel this way as well and are tapping into a voting pools whose interests they really don't represent.

The Democratic Party by it's very nature is big government. The Republican Party is traditionally small government. The Tea Party is bringing the Republican Party back to its small government roots. The Republican Party does not want big government where people's private lives are concerned. How does the Republican Party want to regulate sexual morality? Are you talking about Abortion?

"the Democrats want big government where the economy is concerned." You mean they want to take our wages and decide who gets them.
I could care less about regulating morality. That is none on our business.
Come to NY State. The highest taxes in the country and more programs than any other state. Guess what? Democrats rule and poverty in Upstate cities is 30%. Nice results. Tell me exactly HOW the Democrats control the economy? By giving tax breaks to downstate companies (connected), free power to downstate companies (connected), and big pensions to government unions (in return for votes). It all leads to high taxes and poverty for the rest of us.
Why? Because the Democrats have destroyed Upstate NY, and they will win again in November because the idiots here have their hands out, and the rest of us are packing our bags. It's disgraceful. They take advantage of the poor. They don't help them.

You only had two examples of republicans supporting big government. In reality, EVERY society and culture in the entire history of mankind has regulated sexual conduct, generally in the same basic ways. The US Constitution makes specific reference to the need to let the demands of war occasionally override the Bill of Rights. Try reading the document.

What constitutional freedom do Republicans want to take away from people? Where are your facts?
The passage of Obamacare and cap and Tax are two perfect examples of Democrats looking to grow the size of the government.
Try again.

You're correct, both major parties are infested by statists to a very large degree.
Bottom line, if you like liberty, BE for liberty.
Quit settling for "the lesser of two evils" and you can help us get rid of both.

Right on...and in truth they also always have a large government to manage the corporate-military cartel. Republicanism is the party of enormous government. Even though they pretend to want a government of three (white) men and a dog.
*grammar help for stereotype* "CouldN'T care less." It makes logical sense.

Because as super majority, the Dems have expanded govt significantly into the private sector.
I don't see where any moral legislation is coming out of congress, perhaps you are confusing
legislation with private opinion.

what do you call the bailouts.and corporate take overs, the expansion of health care, how many more cabinet positions and new entitlements.wow.how out of touch can one be.for the ones supposed to be the intelligent elite.you sure sound ignorant.

Oh no that doesn't count, because they say so. That's different.
Like how they are for states rights until it directly conflicts with some ridiculous morality induced legislation they are trying to pass.
They make no sense.
