the birth certificate cause him to get in trouble and deported? She doesn't know what to do and neither do I.

What matters here is the baby. S/he is entitiled to have the father listed on the birth certificate. If you seek government/state aid, then they will look to the father to pay support, which is only fair. The state is not looking at birth certificates to find out someone's legal status, they will only care if you and the child need state aid (like foodstamps and WIC in the US). If you don't list the father, and eventually want child support from him, then the courts will get involved, IF you can find him to serve him. As far as deportation, then have the mother marry him (if they are in love).
Now here is the unfair part; if a mother puts the name of someone NOT the father on the certificate, he is considered the father until he can prove otherwise. Maybe try Bill Gates, I believe he is a citizen....

Hello. :^) I can definitely relate! My adoring boyfriend, the father of my baby, is also an illegal immigrant. I have not been concerned with having his name on their birth certificate because I know he will not get deported or anything. Your friend and her family will be just fine. :^) Also, I know a couple that are illegal immigrants and they had either one or both of their little boys in the very same hospital I go to, and everything turned out well. What reason would they have for doing a background check on the father, you know what I mean? Well, I certainly hope I assisted you and I wish all of you the very best. :^)
