How do you make a Good Cup of Coffee?
This is a question I think that has baffled many a person.
Is it the Beans? The Water? The Coffee Maker?
I've had every thing from coffee that looked more like flavored water to Boy Scout Coffee That would be hair on a bald man.
I've had it from any and every type of coffee maker for old school percolators to Bunn-o-Matic
10 points for anyone that can help me improve my coffee making skills *which are extremely lack luster*

My husband would say yes, yes and yes. The coffee you use does make a difference. He also thinks using filtered water makes coffee better. And, he thinks aluminum coffee pots make coffee worse. If you have a coffee grinder and grind your own beans you will probably have the best tasting coffee. Another thing to consider is how you like it. Some people like it so weak you can see through it and other people like it so strong it can almost walk away on it's own. Try using about 1 Tbsp. per cup. So, if you are making 6 cups of coffee use about 6 Tbsp. of ground coffee. (I use a scoop that came out of a canister of Gatorade. It seems to hold about 4 Tbsp. I use 1 scoop to 24 oz. of water) You can adjust the amount based on the coffee you use. If you look at the cans of coffee some are mild, some medium and some bold or strong. You might want to use a little less if you have the bold coffee. Also, allow enough water for evaporation. If you want 6 cups of coffee then fill the pitcher just above the 6 mark. I prefer a Bunn coffeemaker because it keeps the water hot and makes the coffee in roughly 3 minutes. We always use filtered water. If you don't have a water filter, try bottled water. We use bottled water at work because my boss says he can taste the chlorine if we don't.

A good cup of coffee is a subtle art. You are right to suspect the beans, water, and coffee maker. But I would add to that the the freshness, the "grind" (if you grind your own beans), and the measurement are all important.
Briefly:
1). Start with the bean. You don't need to buy the most expensive, but don't bargain hunt either. Whether buying whole beans or ground, be sure and buy beans that come in air tight packaging (as opposed to the self-serve bins) because beans start to loose flavor the second they come off the roasting line. The quicker they are packaged, and sealed off from the air, the better. Of course that means that it is preferable to grind your own right before brewing your coffee. Buy it fresh, keep it fresh until time to use!
2). Keep it clean. This applies to your water and coffeemaker. Your water should be as clean and tasteless as possible, so filter it (its better for you anyway!). With daily use, a coffeemaker can quickly build up an oily residue that gives your coffee a stale flavor, so keep it clean!
3). Measure. Most people make weak coffee. For every six ounces of finished coffee, you need 2 tablespoon of coffee beans. Sound like alot? Yep, you've been making it weak.
4.) The coffeemaker. Open for debate, but a mid range ($70-$110) drip-brewer is fine if you follow the rest of the steps.

It could be all 3. Is the coffee maker clean? Run about a cup of water with 1/4 cup of vinegar through your coffee maker with no coffee in it, water with lemon for the second time , and then straight water to clean your maker out thoroughly.
As for the coffee, try authentic mocha java from Gloria Jean's (if possible). Use about 1 tablespoon per 8 oz of coffee you want, and use filtered water, or bottled if you must. Add honey or sugar to suit your personal taste, as well as creamer if you desire, and you should have a decent cup of coffee.

Armenian coffee is my Favorite, its an old school way of making coffee. It makes enough for 3 espresso shots. its made in a little metal container with a handle. Use fine ground coffee of your choice. Fill the container ( which you can buy online) with water then a heaping tablespoon of coffee then a tablespoon of sugar, you can add or subtract to taste. put it on medium heat and when it boils its done. Coffee grounds will stay on the bottom after boiling so dont drink them. Very enjoyable and 1 shot is all you need or 2 if your really in need.

Sorry Suthern, I have had coffee across the boarder and it tasted like dish water. I get a blend 50% Caramel and 50% expresso finely ground and I use my expresso maker, but a coffee peculator is great. Then it also depends on how much cream/milk and sugar you use also. I get that caramel colored froth on top I know I have a good cup.

Well.... here's the thing..... Women would probably still wear them because they'd feel it the "norm" just like they do with bras now... And no one would think they'd look funny under the clothes because it's expected.... it would be normal.... ;)
